Tops Books of 2022

Hi all! I read many books last year, and here is my official list of favorites. Of the 90 books I read, 23 books were 5-star reads. This is a first for me. This year I embraced DNF-ing books I was not feeling, leading to more books I enjoyed and 5-star reads. Listed below are my 23 5-star reads.

Links to the books are provided in the titles. I have linked them to my favorite local, black-owned independent bookstore. Please support Independent Bookstores. This is also a reminder to diversify your bookshelves and read BIPOC authors.

I thoroughly enjoyed all of these books and fell in love with some new authors. So I will now try to do the impossible and rank my top ten books of the year. I will review my top three in a different blog post.

10. Somebody's Daughter by Ashley C. Ford

9. Seven Days in June by Tia Williams

8. Razorblade Tears by S.A. Crosby

7. I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

6. Ethic (the whole series) by Ashley Antoinette

5. Salvation by bell hooks

4. The Fortunes of Jaded Women by Carolyn Hugh

3. The Love Songs of W.E.B. Du Bois by Honoree Jeffers

2. Olga Dies Dreaming by Xochitl Gonzalez

1 Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson

Until next time
